Reassessing Your Health Goals | Remington Chiropractic Newsletter

From the Doctor's Desk

dr-wells-remington

When you  have a moment of quiet time, sit down and honestly assess where you are at with your health and fitness goals and where you would like to be in 2 months, 6 months, or a year from now? Could you use a little more activity in your life? Are you carrying around some extra pounds? Are you aging with vitality or are you heading down the path of blood pressure drugs and knee replacements? Maybe it's time for a course correction!

My family enjoys retelling the story of our "course correction" on a Class IV rapid on the Klamath River. We had scouted our route, made contingency plans and pushed off into the river with my brother Steve at the oars. Despite efforts otherwise, the raft hit an enormous boulder known as the "Dragon's Tooth" and started to climb up its side. As the kids scrambled to the high side of the raft (as planned), Steve shouted out, "Change of plans!" and deftly maneuvered the raft off the rock.

Now, whenever I notice that things in my life are not proceeding quite as anticipated, I hear Steve's voice in my head shouting, "Change of plans!" As you re-evaluate your life, I encourage you to set attainable goals, work hard to achieve them, get the professional help that you need, and don't hesitate to change course if you find yourself off-track.

yours in health,

NFL Teams Embrace Chiropractic

Chiropractic has become a part of mainstream NFL culture with every team, except one, having a chiropractor on staff. The same can be said about every other professional sports league including major league baseball, basketball, hockey and soccer.

Three time Super Bowl Champions Emmitt Smith, Jerry Rice and Roger Craig all credit chiropractic care with their success and longevity in the game. When Emmit Smith, leading rusher in NFL history retired with over 18,000 yards, he said, "I thank God, my family and my chiropractor."

Jerry Rice, widely considered the greatest receiver in NFL history, initially sought chiropractic care after being injured on the field. Today, he is an official spokesperson of the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, a group dedicated to "...increasing public awareness to the many benefits associated with chiropractic care." And soon to be Hall of Famer Roger Craig began receiving chiropractic care when he was in fifth grade and today, like the others, still receives regular chiropractic treatments.

Like all professional athletes, these three took a tremendous beating over their careers which began in little league and continued into the pros. Chiropractic care as a part of their lifestyle, injury treatment and training has helped show the world that you can play high level sports and retain your health.
