Ergonomics For Kids | Remington Chiropractic Newsletter

From the Doctor's Desk

dr-wells-remington

I attended a lecture by Sarah Mahoney, PT, and lead physiotherapist for children's ergonomics in the New Zealand school system. I've included some of her tips for children. They're great reminders for adults too!

And since learning is a lifelong endeavor, I've listed some of my favorite books for healthy living. I'm planning on cooking something from Jamie's Food Revolution for dinner tonight!

Ergonomics for kids...big & small

Remember the 3 "P"s

Posture

  • Sit with an "S," not a "C."
  • Elbows in at your sides. No "wings."

Placement

  • Look straight ahead (or slightly down) at your laptop or monitor.
  • Use an external mouse. Learn to use it with right & left hands.
  • Support your posture with pillows or a foot stool.

Pause

  • Take mini breaks. Stretch!
  • Vary your activities.
